Sidle House Gallery: Cold Wax & Oil Workshop with Anne Hebebrand

This two-day, studio-intensive workshop offers a rare opportunity to work closely within the setting of Anne Hebebrand’s current exhibition at the Sidle House. Designed as a focused and immersive experience, the workshop invites participants to explore the depth and versatility of cold wax and oil painting through a balance of demonstration, experimentation, and individualized guidance.
Working in an intimate group of six, each participant will receive sustained one-on-one feedback while developing their own paintings. Emphasis will be placed on building layered surfaces, creating tension through contrast, and navigating the interplay between structure and intuition—core elements of my own practice.
Throughout the workshop, we will move between making and looking. Time will be spent engaging directly with the exhibited work, offering insight into process, material decisions, and the evolution of finished paintings. This proximity creates a dynamic dialogue between the work on the walls and the work in progress.
The small group size allows for a thoughtful, responsive environment suited to painters at various stages, particularly those interested in deepening their relationship to abstraction and material.
Sidle House hours: Thursdays – Saturdays 3-6 pm and by appointment (May 1 – June 13).
